Qiwi Wallet

How It Works?

To create your own QIWI Wallet account you need nothing more than a phone number. Once you’re all done, you can use it as a regular bank account to pay for utility and phone bills, products and services, and transfer money to other accounts. For some of these methods, like bank transfers, QIWI has come out with a tailored product for even less hassle (see QIWI Transfer).

QIWI Wallet users can top up their account using a variety of methods, including bank or QIWI’s own terminals, via online banking and the pay by phone option. Alternatively, they can link their Visa or MasterCard and have funds taken from that account directly.

QIWI Wallet is also available on Apple Store, Google Play and Windows Store. The mobile application is free of charge and optimised to work with your device’s operating system for a more flawless experience. Alternatively, use SMS/USSD commands to perform some of the transactions with a simple message. More info on the commands can be found on QIWI’s official site.

Security

Security is paramount and shouldn’t be taken for granted even with behemoths like QIWI. The company operates under the supervision of Ernst & Young and to the highest industry standards. More info on fraud systems, encryption and protection methods is available on its dedicated security page.

Banking

Depending on which QIWI services you use, you may be charged for a transaction or any other services. For instance, sending money between bank cards using QIWI Wallet costs 1.6% (min 100 RUB). For cashouts to a bank card QIWI charges 2%, whereas most top-ups are free of charge. Since there are so many possible combinations, each transaction should be viewed individually and may have its own exceptions.

Since the group is so big and widespread within its territory, it has partnerships with all major Russian banks and service companies, enabling Russians to make payments effortlessly using QIWI Wallet. That said, many Eastern European online casinos, including White Club Casino, Casino Fortuna, and Casino Jackfon, readily support QIWI as a payment method.

Summary

QIWI is a leading payment service provider in Russia. Established in 2008, their web-wallet and banking products allow users to make purchases and money transfers from anywhere they are, without compromising the security or ease of use.
