Annual EGR Nordics Awards 2017 ceremony has now come to an end. A total of 12 iGaming operators and affiliates have been nominated in different categories, ranging from the Sports Betting Supplier award to the Nordics Operator of the year. Here are some of the main highlights.

Held on Tuesday, 17th January, this Malta-based event is the first in the series, among the bigger ones like EGR B2B Awards, which is held in summer, and EGR Operator Awards, which takes place usually in November. As always, the competition has been stiff, so the people and brands that were shortlisted for the awards can already count themselves as winners.

This year’s Casino Platform Supplier award winner is Playtech, which had only one competitor: NYX Gaming Group. Among other nominations, from the 8 companies that competed for the Casino Content Supplier award, NetEnt came out as a clear winner. Simon Hammon, NetEnt CPO, had this to say: “NetEnt has had a fantastic year of releases to the market. They have proven to be highly successful from a commercial perspective and impressive in terms of their mix of mechanics, design, and features.”

He added: “This was also recognized with the recent success of Guns N’ Roses being named Game of the Year at the Operator Awards. We look forward to building on these achievements with an even bigger and better year in 2017.”

On the operator’s front, Mr Green was the only brand to bring home not one but two awards: one for the Marketing Campaign, and another one for the very prestigious Nordics Operator.

The Casino Operator of the year was named in a separate category, where renowned casinos like Betsson, Casumo, KarlCasino, LeoVegas, Mr Green, Rizk, SlotsMillion, Spillehallen, Unibet and Videoslots went head to head. The winner? – LeoVegas, who had transformed their casino site by adding a sportsbook in summer last year.

As far as mobile awards are concerned, then the judges had to choose from Casumo, Genesis Global, who run Spinit and Casino Cruise, LeoVegas and Mr Green. The 2017 Mobile Operator award winner is Casumo.

Finally, when choosing a casino based on customer service or social responsibility, then the awards ceremony makes it that much easier with categories for both Socially Responsible Operator and Customer Services Operator. This year’s winners are Paf and Betsson, respectively.

That said, the next iGaming event on the calendar is the International Gaming Awards, which takes place during the February conferences in London.
