In what industry insiders might view as the deal of a lifetime, iGaming software developer Playtech has announced an exclusive distribution deal with Warner Bros. Pictures. Under the terms of the deal, Playtech will receive the exclusive rights for multiple years to develop gaming content built around a series of recent DC Comics blockbusters.
In recent years, Warner Bros. Pictures has turned out several motion pictures that quickly climbed to the top of the movie charts. Some of the more recent titles to already pass through theatres on the way to DVD distribution include Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Dark Knight Trilogy, and Suicide Squad. Playtech will also get the exclusive rights to upcoming ventures such as the highly-anticipated League of Justice.
In addition to developing DC Comics online gaming content, Playtech is also expected to launch the previously announced DC Super Heroes Progressive Jackpot slots like Green Lantern, Superman and Superman II, to retail terminals in parts of Europe, including UK, Italy, Finland, Norway and Romania. Based on the past success Playtech also has had with branded games such as Iron Man III, X-Men and the Hulk, this new deal fits in perfectly with the company’s desire to dominate super hero themed video slots and table games.
According to Mor Weizer, CEO, Playtech: “This is a hugely significant deal for Playtech and we’re delighted to have a wider-reaching exclusive DC film- and TV-branded content licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products. We’ve had phenomenal feedback from our licensees based on the high-quality and calibre of the DC-branded games we rolled out in 2016. Today’s agreement takes this launch strategy to the next level by allowing Playtech to expand its robust offering with an array of new games branded to blockbuster DC film titles. In addition, these new titles will contribute to the growth of the prize level of the DC Super Heroes Jackpot.”
He later added, “This partnership is a testament to our innovative and forward-looking global casino teams and we’re thrilled to work with Warner Bros. Consumer Products to deliver even more cutting-edge, best-performing DC-branded games.”
On behalf of Warner Bros. Pictures, Pam Lifford, President, Warner Bros. Consumer Products shared, “We’re excited to grow our DC-branded offerings with Playtech and showcase many of DC’s iconic Super Heroes in these immersive, action-packed games. This collaboration speaks to our commitment to engage with fans in the growing gaming space and continue to offer players an on-going entertainment experience around the world.”
