Amaya Gaming

The Company

Amaya Gaming was founded around 2005 by a group of experienced and talented software develops who wanted to bring their own vision to a growing industry. The Canadian-based company originally intended to focus on developing a full-service proprietary software platform with a nice variety of games. After developing a few games on its own, they made the decision to fill its games library through the acquisition of two small gaming software developers in Chartwell and Cryptologic.

In August of 2014, Amaya stunned the iGaming industry with the acquisition of the Rational Group, which owns and operates the biggest conglomerate of online poker sites in the world. Some of the poker sites owned by Rational include names like Full Tilt, European Poker Tour.

Subsequently, the company made another decision to sell off its gaming development operations when it sold Chartwell and Cryptologic to NYX Gaming in April 2015. In the future, NYX will continue providing games to sites contracted through Amaya.

Regarding regulations, Amaya Gaming is currently licensed through the UK Gambling Commission while the Rational Group maintains its license with the Isle of Man.

The Software

For a decade now, Amaya has been developing online gaming software using cutting edge technology. Sites contracted with Amaya can offer players access to the software in download mode, instant play or Flash mode using a web-browser and via mobile devices that operate on popular platforms such as iOS for Apple products and Android.

While the games component has been sold off to NYX, Amaya is still developing and offering a front-end component that is both scalable and easily customized to the client's taste. It also maintains enough flexibility to allow for integration of games from most of the top game developers in the world.

The back-office component comes with player tracking capabilities, a bonus and promotion management module, cash transaction monitoring, customer service and financial reporting.

The Games

With ownership of top poker sites, Amaya has become the biggest single software provider of the genre. Through its new affiliation with NYX, they can still offer gaming options such as video slots, video poker, live dealer games (baccarat, blackjack, roulette, etc.) and table games (baccarat, Pai Gow, craps, blackjack, roulette, etc.).

Through the company's affiliation with Cryptologic, casino owners can offer customers access to the DC Comics line of video slots, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and the Green Lantern. There are currently dozens of sites using at least a portion of Amaya's software platform.

Summary

Amaya is one of the leading iGaming developers that since the acquisition of Rational Group and selling of Chartwell and Cryptologic has been more online poker focused than ever before. Popular also for its DC Comics video slots, brands like PokerStars and Full Tilt are currently under Amaya’s management.
